I offer a casual and relaxed experience, for after all, it is only under these circumstances that children are truly themselves. I am a minimalist when it comes to props; however, if there is a special item that you are looking to add to your portrait, I would be happy to oblige. Children have overwhelmingly free spirits and I strive to capture that spirit for timeless, classic photographs that will be cherished for years to come. While I have particular enthusiasm for black and white portraiture, I will give special consideration to shots in color.

Heidi is currently scheduling appointments for November 2006 and winter 2007.

All sessions are by appointment and require $50 deposit within 5 days of booking your appointment. This fee, which will be used towards your session fee, is a non-refundable retainer and is required to reserve your time. If you need to reschedule, please kindly give at least 48 hours notice prior to your appointment. You may apply this retainer for a future appointment should you need to reschedule. My schedule typically fills up 4-6 weeks in advance, so keep this in mind, particularly for maternity or newborn sessions.

The standard session fee is applicable towards both studio and on location sessions within 20 miles of State College, PA. Mini-sessions are strictly in-studio.

I will do my best to meet your needs and to work around the schedule of your family. Upon scheduling your session, we will have a consultation either in person or via phone, regarding your expectations. At this time, we can discuss session location, clothing, and your overall wants for your portraits. Senior sessions include a variety of studio setups, as well as an on-location shoot, which we will discuss during our initial consultation.

I encourage simple clothing. While bright, vivid patterns look adorable on all children, it can be a distraction in your child's portrait. For group portraits, I recommend that all wear similar clothing. This helps to make the group appear unified and reduces any distraction that 'clashing' clothing may cause. If you need suggestions for clothing, I am more than happy to help you. You are welcome to choose from a small selection of suitable children's clothing that I have on hand.

Dark, solid color clothing works well for dark backgrounds and allows the focus to be on the subject's face. Simple light-colored clothing and denim and khaki material works particularly well for a lighter toned background. I prefer that babies simply wear a diaper cover because clothing can overwhelm the child and become the focus of the photograph.

For mini sessions, your images will be available for online viewing within 1 week of your session. For standard sessions, your printed previews will be available within 2 weeks of your session. A minimum of two days before your ordering session, you will be able to view your proofs in a private online gallery. I require payment in full at the time of your order, and your portraits will be ready within 2 to 3 weeks from the order date.
